Carlo Forcolini started his career as a designer in 1970.
Over fifty years he played multiple roles in the business, representing an unusual cross-cultural and cross-operational case.
After a short-term collaboration with the Castiglioni brothers’ firm and a long-term association with Vico Magistretti, he worked as a product designer for Alias, Amar collezioni, Artemide, Caimi, Cassina, De Padova, Futura, Gervasoni, Luceplan, Merotto Milani, Nemo, OY light, Pomellato, Valenti, Zumbtobel.
Throughout his career he was also a designer of set-ups and Exhibitions, as well as an entrepreneur and a manager: he was the co-founder and managing director of Amar Collezioni, Alias, Nemo, OY light.
In 2009 he approached the Training and Education business at Istituto Europeo di Design (IED).
From 2002 to 2008 he was the National President of ADI, which he developed from a high-prestige Milan-focused institution to a national entity with 11 local delegations aimed at enhancing and selecting top-level design works in the individual regions. This structural and institutional transformation also redefined the mission of both the Association and the Compasso d’Oro award, conceived as the final outcome of an operational approach aimed at reviewing high-level Italian design across the national territory.
Appointed by MIBAC one of the 100 Italian ambassadors in the world, he participated in the 2017/18/19 editions.
Since his products were first selected by Gio Ponti for Domus in 1971, his projects have been featured in highly qualified and specialized national and international magazines and publications.
