UNA / UNLESS is an interdisciplinary studio founded by Giulia Foscari, architect, curator and activist who has been practising in Europe, Asia and the Americas. Based in Venice, Italy, UNA is an architecture office focussed on cultural projects, and its alter ego UNLESS is a non-profit agency for change devoted to transnational research on Global Commons. Recent projects by UNA / UNLESS include the Anish Kapoor Foundation and Antarctic Resolution, a call to action operating within the realms of the environment, politics and technology that was awarded the S+T+ARTS Grand Prize by the European Commission. Alongside directing UNA / UNLESS, Giulia Foscari is a member of the Council of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), and a board member of the Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia (MuVE) and of the Antarctic Southern Ocean Coalition (ASOC). Giulia worked extensively with Rem Koolhaas (OMA/AMO), collaborated with Zaha Hadid, taught at Hong Kong University and the Architectural Association in London where she ran a Diploma Unit, and authored award-winning Elements of Venice (Lars Müller Publishers, 2014).
